Taking the next step
If you're anything like me, you need a glimpse of the bigger picture before you can take the first step. Even after you survive that initial foot in the water, you require constant reassurance. Yet the paradox of life with God is how He often gives us directions with only a piece of the map towards a destination known only by Him. At once, it can seem a daunting task to walk in obedience when we don't always know where we're going. However, I want to encourage you/us to taking the next step in God's plan for your life with confidence. Even if you have no idea where it leads.
God's chosen will in our lives
Ephesians 1:11tells us that God has chosen us for His will. Yet, how often do we make plans of our own and in an afterthought ask God to bless them? Much of our apprehension then is rooted in the fear that God's next step for us will interfere with the path we've created for ourselves. His chosen will for our lives is far beyond, bigger and better than the path and plans we've made for ourselves.
Ephesians 3:20 reminds us that God is able to do "exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think according to His power that is at work within us". We must learn. to take God at His word. Surrendering our will to His and trusting that His plan for our lives far surpasses anything we could've done on our own.
Taking the next steps practically
Our sitting down, our rising up, our thoughts afar off. Our words before they meet our tongues. I've yet to stumble upon lines that dance as beautifully to the complicated rhythm of the human heart than David's penning ofPsalms 139. In it, I am convinced that God's knowledge of us far exceeds what we think of ourselves.
God has never been blind to our shortcomings, but our mistakes don't inhabit His power. Taking the next step in our lives is what He has called us to do, He has already prepared us for what's to come. I want to encourage you to take the next step in full confidence that God has already equipped and provided you with the resources to do His will.
Are you ready to take the next step?
Celestials
or me, writing has been God’s continual invitation for me to seek Him in the midst of my mess: a constant reminder that He does not require perfect, but willing vessels.
Fun fact: I love reading Biblical Historical Fiction! (Francine Rivers does it best!)
